Dear Christmas Parade Friends,
A MOST URGENT MESSAGE
I must commend all the participants of last year's parade. The floats were the best. We had more churches participation than any other year, "Praise The Lord!" We had the best top of the line school bands you could ask for. We had great string bands and if we had more money I'll bet we could give the Philadelphia parade a run for their money. Everyone said, "It was the best parade of all."
With all that said, our collections were a disaster. From all sources we only took in $16,000.00. We usually take in $20,000 to $22,000. I put in lots of the extra money, but when it gets to be so big of a balance and you have to pay bills, that's too much. It's just lucky I had saved money for a project so I paid the balance to keep the parade in good standing.
Perhaps you don't know how much parades cost. I am making a list of our checkbook register. Just click on the link to see all major bills paid.
Remember the parade is coordinated and run by community donations alone.
We try to reach everyone, but it's hard. The list of property owners does not include renters. I have difficulties getting a listing for the scouts, football, basketball, and soccer teams. They are the heart of the parade.
So ALL you clubs, businesses, motels, restaurants, and Bed & Breakfasts could try to send in $50.00 or more if possible. I know every room available in every establishment is full the weekend of the parade. We tried to get a place for relatives for several years. They ended up sleeping on the floor with friends.
So at this point I guess that says it all. We need your support and if you care about the joy of the parade and all the people and business it bring to town you will surely send in you donation.
Thank You,
Charlotte Daily
The Parade Lady
